My interest in radio started as a kid in the 1970’s during the CB craze. Solar conditions at that time were excellent and I was amazed at being able to work the world with my 5 watt transmitter and small vertical antenna. My interest in travel was sparked by radio, as I was able to travel vicariously through my radio contacts. After that experience, I was hooked, and as I got older, my radio ambitions increased.
Besides radio, my other passion is natural bodybuilding. I recently won several shows, including one of the biggest natural competitions in the Northwest, Iron Man, in October 2013. I find bodybuilding and radio competitions to be very similar: It takes time, experience, and discipline to do well.
I have two teenage daughters, 18 and 16 years old. The oldest will attend Central Washington University in the fall, and my youngest is looking to attend the University of Washington in the fall of 2015. Last but not least, is my wonderful wife Carol. She is a yoga instructor and very supportive of my hobbies.
It is an honor and a privilege to compete on the world stage at WRTC2014 with the best operators from around the globe. Having worked so many of them over the years, I am looking forward to the opportunity to personally meet everyone.
