I made my first CW QSO back in 1972 and was hooked on contesting for the rest of my life after entering Kaunas University of technology (former Kaunas Polytechnic Institute) and joining University radio club in 1973 where I made tens of amazing contest-minded friends, including my Elmers LY2NK, LY2OO. During my 40+ years contesting career I operated as UP2BCR, UP3BA, UK2PAF, UK2PCR, UP1BZO, LY2ZO, LY7A, participated in Contest expeditions to Georgia as UF6A, RF3V, UP3BA/UF.
Luckily I have very supporting wife Regina, so I could spend close to 1000 weekends doing Contests. We have a son Audrius and daughter Sarune.
I took part in two WRTC as competitor – S512T in Slovenia and R32R in Moscow. We have an adage here in Lithuania – “third time never lies”, and this will be my third attempt in WRTC.
