I’m grateful to my father Vladimir, UT3MD (ex-RB5MDV) who introduced me to ham radio. I was 12 years old and I was a very active operator of the UK5MDC Radio Club before getting my own UB4MPC call sign in 1984 at the age of 14. Top band quickly became my favorite one and I completed 160m DXCC in 1986. I got my Extra class ticket in 1990 and my call became UB2MC, and then (later) in 1993 it was changed to my current call UR0MC.
Unfortunately, due to work and family commitments, I was not really active between 1995 and 2003. But then in 2004 I returned to active Contesting using UR0MC, UW2M and EO5M and at the same time started to build my big countryside contest station, which now consists of many towers and can be configured either for SO2R or M/S operation. Since 2008 we are often very active in Multi-op category from my station using UZ2M call.
I was a part of the C93DY/C91CW (2005), EY0R (2006) and N8S (2007) DXpeditions.
I am married and have 3 children.
I participated in my first WRTC in Moscow in 2010. I think WRTC is the most prestigious and difficult ham radio competition. Usually the best operators from all over the world are participating. The highlight of the each contester is to take part in such an event!
